Masters of the American West Highlights

Longing for Home by Kyle Polzin
Family Traditions by Morgan Weistling
Capturing the Captain's Coat by Howard Terpning

As supporters of the Autry, we wanted to share some of the highlights of the Masters of the American West show this year.

This was the first year that selected works were offered in an open live bid format, rather than silent bid.  There were paintings in the live bid auction by Howard Terpning,  ZS Liang,, Mian Situ, and Kyle Polzin.

The rest of the available paintings in the show were sold by ballot box draw as usual.

Howard Terpning was close to 2 Million with the sale of his painting Capturing the Chief's Coat 40 x 50 which sold for 1.9 Million to the highest bidder. Limited Edition giclee canvases of the piece were produced by his publisher The Greenwich Workshop, and have already sold out at the publisher. Contact us if you are interested in adding one of Howard Terpning's original paintings or sold-out at publisher limited editions to your art collection.

We are also fortunate to have some of Howard's double signed Artist Proofs direct from the family vault that we can offer our collectors.

Morgan Weistling won the Purchase Award for his wonderful painting Family Traditions, which is now part of the Autry permanent collection.  We are very happy for Morgan's well deserved win, although it would hae been nice to be able to buy the painting for one of our collectors : )

Kyle Polzin exceeded expectations yet again with his painting Longing for Home 17 x 36 which sold for 60.000.

Overall it was a good night for Western art.

You can browse more Western art on our website, and we have more art available that is not on the website. Contact us at 661 476-7558 or e-mail info@jwatsonfineart.com and let us know if there is something on your wish list for art we can assist you with.
